What Are Crowns & Bridges?

A crown is a custom cap placed over a damaged tooth to restore its shape and strength. A bridge uses crowns on the teeth next to a gap to hold a replacement tooth firmly in place — both are fixed, permanent restorations.

Crown (The Cap)

A custom-made cap that fully covers a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its shape, strength and appearance.

Abutment Teeth (The Support)

The healthy natural teeth on either side of a gap that are shaped and crowned to anchor a bridge in place.

Pontic (The Replacement Tooth)

The artificial tooth that fills the gap left by a missing tooth, held in place between the abutment crowns.

Cement / Bonding (The Fixation)

Dental cement that permanently bonds the crown or bridge to your natural teeth for a secure, lasting fit.

Who Might Need Crowns or Bridges?

A badly decayed or cracked tooth

A tooth after root canal treatment

Missing one or more teeth in a row

A weak tooth that needs extra support

Want to restore your bite & appearance

Our Crown & Bridge Process

01

Consultation

We assess your tooth, gums and bite to recommend the right restoration.

02

Tooth Preparation

The tooth (or abutment teeth) are gently shaped and precise impressions are taken.

03

Temporary Restoration

A temporary crown or bridge protects your tooth while the permanent one is made.

04

Lab Fabrication

Your custom crown or bridge is crafted in the lab to match your natural teeth.

05

Final Fitting

The permanent restoration is checked for fit and comfort, then cemented in place.

Benefits of Crowns & Bridges

Restores the shape, size and strength of your tooth

Improves the appearance of your smile

Protects a weak tooth from further damage

Restores normal chewing and speech

Prevents nearby teeth from shifting out of place

Durable and long-lasting with proper care

Does It Hurt?

Tooth preparation is done under local anesthesia, so you won't feel pain during the visit. Mild sensitivity with the temporary crown or bridge is normal and resolves once the permanent one is fitted.

Recovery & Aftercare

Brush and floss as usual

Avoid hard & sticky foods initially

Use a night guard if you grind your teeth

Attend regular dental check-ups

Avoid biting directly on temporary restorations

Is It Suitable For You?

Crowns and bridges suit most people with a damaged, weakened or missing tooth who want a fixed, non-removable solution. Your dentist will check the health of your remaining teeth and gums to confirm the right option for you.
